In January, the gates of The Alnwick Garden will be closed to the public but there is still plenty of action happening behind the scenes with our ‘Big January Clean Up 2026’. The Clean Up is our way of preparing The Garden for another year of magic and your help is invaluable to ensure it remains an inspiring place for all who visit.

Here, at The Garden, we are committed to supporting the local community through the various different charitable programmes we run. Through these programmes, we:

    • Enable children to learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle, reducing childhood obesity.
    • Reduce isolation for older people to access our drop-in, make friends and improve their mental well-being;
    • Deliver ground-breaking education to children and young people around substance misuse – increasing resilience and reducing anti-social behaviour.
    • Provide opportunities for vulnerable people to increase their employment chances.
    • Allow those with Dementia, and their carers, to access provision that stimulates their mental capabilities which allows them to manage and live with their condition.
    • Create beautiful garden spaces to be enjoyed by communities, schools and charities alike.

As part of our corporate volunteering initiative, we would like to offer you and your teams the opportunity to get involved in helping us support these programmes, by swapping your usual office space for pruners, gloves and the satisfaction of making a difference! From sanding, varnishing and painting wooden furniture, to taking out old foliage so that we can re-plant for the spring, to general annual maintenance, there’s something for everyone! All under the supervision and with the support of our brilliant specialist gardening team.
